Elite Lineup Gathers as China GT Shanghai Season Opener Approaches

From April 25 to 27, the 2025 China GT Championship, organized by the Federation of Automobile and Motorcycle Sports of China (CAMF) and promoted by TOP SPEED, will make its grand return at the Shanghai International Circuit. For this event, top-tier teams and legendary drivers will converge on the track that host’s Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix to kickstart a new era in the competition, showcasing the pinnacle of GT racing in China.

Provisional Entry List for the 2025 China GT Round 1


The new season will see renowned international teams and rising stars of the GT racing world take the stage at China GT. The recently released provisional entry list reveals nearly 30 cars and close to 50 elite drivers poised to compete in the Shanghai season opener.  




The star-studded lineup is headlined by the flagship GT3 class, where 19 entries from prestigious marques such as Audi, Porsche, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Mercedes-AMG will battle for overall supremacy.

Origine Motorsport will field a two-car lineup on home soil as a two-time GT World Challenge Asia champion and two-time Shanghai 8 Hours winning squad. Among them, 24 Hours of Le Mans class runner-up and inaugural GTSSC champion Lu Wei will team up with CTCC triple champion Xie Xinzhe in the No. 55 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO. The team’s second car, the No. 77 Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II, will be piloted by 2024 GTSC champion Gu Meng alongside seasoned GT racer Min Heng.  






Fresh off their victory at the Sepang 12 Hours, Harmony Racing will deploy a formidable five-car GT3 assault, representing Audi, Ferrari, and Lamborghini. Team principal and GT veteran Chen Weian will partner GTSSC race winner Liu Hangcheng in the No. 37 Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II, while the No. 328 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO will be driven by promising young duo Li Hanyu and Ou Ziyang, who impressed in pre-season testing.  




Three of Harmony Racing’s entries will compete under the "33R HAR" banner: the No. 66 33R Harmony Racing Audi will be shared by experienced drivers Zhang Yaqi and Lu Zhiwei; the No. 33R HAR Ferrari 296 GT3 will be steered by Zhen Mingwei and Wang Yang; and the No. 33R HAR Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II will see Zhou Tianji team up with Wang Zhongwei.  




UNO Racing Team will field a two-car effort, with their first confirmed lineup featuring 2022 GTSSC champion “Rio” alongside Chen Yechong. FIST Team AAI makes its return to China’s premier GT racing scene after a six-year hiatus, entering two BMW M4 GT3s. Champion drivers Lin Yu and Chen Yinyu will be joined by Swedish professional Erik Johansson and newly minted BMW factory driver Ugo De Wilde, respectively.



Newcomer 610Racing will campaign a three-car lineup with Audi and Porsche machinery. The No. 33 Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II will be driven by Audi Sport Asia factory drivers Yu Kuai and Liao Qisheng—the only PRO pairing in the field—while the No. 610 Porsche 911 GT3 R and No. 915 Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II will be shared by Xu Zhefeng and Cui Yue alongside Pan Deng and Yang Xiaowei, respectively. Climax Racing will bring another Prancing Horse to the grid, with Chen Fangping partnering Finnish rising star Elias Seppänen in the No. 710 Ferrari 296 GT3. LEVEL Motorsport will field a Mercedes-AMG GT3 driven by Jiang Jiawei and Yang Shuo.  






GT debutants Incipient Racing will enter two Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO IIs, with Xiao Min in the No. 51 and the duo Xing Yanbin beside Wu Ruihua in the No. 86. You Peng Racing’s lead drivers Shen Jian and Cao Qikuan will share the wheel of a Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO. These three entries will also form the GT3 MASTERS class.  






The GTS class for GT4 machinery will see a four-way battle among Harmony Racing, Incipient Racing, Maxmore W&S Motorsport, and RSR GT Racing. Wang Yongjie and Wu Shiyao will represent Harmony Racing in a BMW M4 GT4, while Incipient Racing’s Chen Sitong and Yu Tong will campaign an Audi R8 LMS GT4. Maxmore W&S Motorsport’s Moritz Berrenberg and Finn Zulauf—who stood on the 2024 GTSC class podium—and RSR GT Racing’s rookie pairing Tian Weiyuan and Han Liqun will both race Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport entries.  




The GTC class will feature a direct duel between Silver Bridge ACM by Blackjack and 610Racing. Silver Bridge’s Zhang Hongyu and Li Sicheng will drive a Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO, while 610Racing’s Bian Ye and Bao Tian will pilot the No. 6 and No. 62 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars, respectively.  




With the 2025 China GT season opener in Shanghai just around the corner, teams are already arriving at the circuit for final preparations. Official pre-season testing will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, followed by the first practice session on Friday. Qualifying and Race 1 will be held on Saturday, with Race 2 following on Sunday and a livestream broadcasting the race throughout. Stay tuned for the action!
